"Heading Down South" Lyrics
Every time I see the blood red leaves falling from a maple tree
I know I've got to get away from the True North strong and free .....- zing
For three seasons I've got true patriot love, but winter's not for me
So I'm going across the border cos Due South is where I want to be

I'm heading down south to New Orleans or a beach in Mexico
Feel the sun on my skin in Scottsdale Arizona, Palm Springs or Key Largo
Gonna sit on the banks of the Rio Grande just to watch a river flow
Or take myself to Texas, or any place that there ain't no snow

I'm not going to shovel cold white snow or see it fall from a cold gray sky
The only ice that I want to see is in a glass of Canadian rye
I'll cheer for the Habs and the Maple Leafs in Tampa or LA
I'll give my thanks in the middle of October - then I'll be on my way

Heading down south to New Orleans or a beach in Mexico
Feel the sun on my skin in Scottsdale Arizona, Palm Springs or Key Largo
Gonna sit on the banks of the Rio Grande just to watch a river flow
Or take myself to Texas, or any place that there ain't no snow

I packed my golf clubs in my pickup truck – got my swimsuit and my flip-flops too
I was backing out my driveway humming Jimmy Buffet tunes

My neighbour shuffled over to me, rolling up his rim
Said “Son, you really think you'll last six months down there without a single Tims?”

Hmmmmm
They got snakes and bugs in Arizona, alligators in Orlando
I'm not going to risk a melanoma in Palm Springs or Key Largo
Gonna stay right here in Canada, away from those dangerous things
And maybe I'll stay snug and warm down at my nearest Tims

I'm not heading down south to New Orleans or a beach in Mexico
I checked out the fares to Scottsdale, Arizona and I can't afford to go
Gonna stay right here in Canada, and tough it out till spring
And drag my sad old frostbitten tush, right down to my nearest Tims
